A Phase 1 study is underway to test the efficacy of OsteoDex in patients with progressive treatment-resistant multiple myeloma at Karolinska University Hospital Huddinge and Uddevalla Hospital. The study involves a 14-week treatment period with two doses per month across three dose levels. Dr. Katarina Uttervall is the Principal Investigator. The study aims to confirm the safety and tolerability of the treatment and to assess indications of treatment response. The study will now include a maximum of 12 patients, reduced from 20, due to the availability of suitable participants. DexTech Medical AB, the company behind the study, has announced that it is financially secure until Q4 2026. DexTech, a Swedish research company, has developed four drug candidates, including OsteoDex, which has shown promise in treating castration-resistant prostate cancer with bone metastases in previous studies. Studien inkluderar vuxna patienter med återkommande behandlingsresistent sjukdom som fått 1–5 tidigare behandlingar. Målet är att bekräfta säkerhet och tolererbarhet samt indikera behandlingsrespons. Antalet patienter har minskats till maximalt 12, vilket anpassats efter tillgängliga patienter.
