YIT Corporation announced that the Pirkkala-Linnainmaa tramway project will move to the implementation phase following a decision by local municipalities. YIT, along with NRC Group Finland, will handle construction, while AFRY Finland Oy and Sweco Finland Oy will manage design. The project, commissioned by Tampere Raitiotie Oy, the City of Tampere, and the Municipality of Pirkkala, will be built in two stages. The first stage, valued at approximately EUR 115 million, will start construction at the end of 2024 and finish by August 2028, pending an agreement in December. The second phase requires state support. The project aims to enhance public transportation and urban development in Tampere. YIT is also finalizing part 2 of the Tampere Tramway Alliance, expected to complete by the end of 2024. YIT Corporation announced an agreement with TA-Asumisoikeus Oy for the construction of an eight-storey apartment building project, Asumisoikeus Oy Suvialankaari 1, in Niemenranta, Tampere. The project, funded by ARA, is part of YIT's Niemenranta regional initiative and valued at approximately EUR 9 million. The building will have 37 apartments across 2,800 square meters and is expected to be completed by October 2025. YIT and TA-Asumisoikeus have a history of collaboration, including a previous project in Niemenranta completed in 2017. YIT Corporation announced an agreement with the City of Helsinki to construct the Melkinlaituri elementary school and daycare center in Jätkäsaari, Helsinki, using a life cycle model. YIT will handle the design, implementation, and a 20-year service period, including energy consumption management. The City of Helsinki will own the building, with the contract valued at approximately EUR 44 million. The project will start in early 2025 and is expected to be completed by late spring 2027. The facility will accommodate 550 primary and pre-school pupils and 250 daycare children, featuring adaptable spaces for diverse educational needs. Shared spaces will be available for community use outside school hours. Efforts will be made to minimize the carbon footprint, aiming for a four-star RTS classification and utilizing renewable energy and recycled materials. The property will include a solar power system supplying at least 30% of its electricity needs. YIT Corporation announced on September 26, 2024, that it has signed an agreement with A-Kruunu Oy to construct two apartment buildings, Asunto Oy Turun Fabriikin Gunnar and Asunto Oy Turun Fabriikin Giselle, in Turku. This project, part of YIT's Turku Fabriikki regional project, is valued at approximately EUR 17 million and will be recorded in the third quarter order book. The ARA-funded project will include 76 homes with A energy class rating, covering 4,700 square meters of floor space, and 49 parking spaces. Construction is set to begin in September 2024, with completion expected in early 2026. The buildings will be located in the former VR mechanical engineering area, close to the city center, transport connections, and services. Both YIT and A-Kruunu expressed satisfaction with their ongoing collaboration and the project's potential benefits for the local community and economy.
